Inequality – The level of inequality the world is witnessing is mind boggling. In Nigeria we have structural, political, tribal, gender and many other inequalities. The Gini coefficient of Nigeria was scored 35.1% in the 2022 ranking her the 11th in West Africa and 100th out of 163 countries globally. Nigeria’s income inequality is 1 to 14 for the top 10% to the bottom 50% of the population and 1 to 37 for the top 1% to the bottom 50%.This wide gap between the rich and poor leaves many really angry at how many can have so much at the expense of others. This has been attributed to the fact that most of the rich amassed wealth through businesses gotten from political affiliations and so flaunt their wealth to the chagrin of the core poor.
Inequality: – As it concerns inequality you do not have a control over that but you sure can find a place and space that best suits you in life and work hard towards achieving that. God who supervises the affairs of men, who feeds the birds of the air and clothes the lilies of the field will not allow us human that He made in His image die like mere men especially if we belong to Him and have totally surrendered your life to Him so He can use for His pleasure. However it beholds the leadership of every nation and the people to begin to work towards spreading their resources so that some do not sleep without a meal while others throw away food. If we all rise to the occasion by lifting up the hands of the weak, the feeble and the poor amongst us, we will certainly even the huge gaps between the very rich and the core poor. And the poor is never so poor they have nothing to give. They can give a hug, a warm smile and a helping hand. They can equally share the little they get from others with those they are certainly better; for no matter what you are challenged with, there are millions you are better than in many ways.
Insecurity
This is a hydra headed issue as it has spiraled to every aspect of life in Nigeria. Its effect on Nigerians and Nigeria’s GDP is overwhelming.
The state of insecurity has taken a different turn as people living in Nigeria are not sure of what will happen to their lives and properties at any point in time. In the Northern Nigeria, Boko Haram is a big threat, in the South the Niger Delta Avengers and cultisim holds sway. In the East is the Eastern Security Network (ESN)/IPOB with their seat at home and incessant harassment of people.
Then the following menace are the lot of all the zones from east to west, south and north alike. The Fulani Herdsmen hiding in thick bushes, chasing farmers away, raping, kidnapping and extorting the kidnapped, burning and killing as they please. Unknown Gunmen, political thugs, kidnapping business men and their lot, harvesting body parts, extorting money and killing at will. Ritualists the Ocult and many other cult groups, all desecrating human lives and threatening the very core of the peace of Nigeria and her people. These groups openly and brazenly parade their might, claiming lives and destroying properties worth billions of dollars.
The inability of the military to contain these threats to life and economic wellbeing has paralyzed major activities in the country. The food shortage experienced now is mostly because farmers can no longer farm vast expanse of lands because of fear of being raped, maimed, killed and their houses burnt and taken from them. All these have driven away many investors and keeping intending ones away. So many companies and businesses have shut down and the few open, operating are doing so at a minimal capacity.
The issue of insecurity is really a mind boggling one. How do you begin to move and feel safe when you do not know what the devils kids are upto. How do you know the car to enter and not have a gun stuck to your head and all your money drained from your account. If that us all they do really and you come home alive and well you should giving thanks for some were as lucky as you. They got killed in a very gruesome manner. The tales one hear from people who escaped from either the kidnappers den, or the occult, ritualists or Fulani herdsmen and others will send chills down your spine as you suddenly realize your life is great despite your numerous unmet needs and wants.
If people can get whisked off into the night and even at broad day light from their homes, offices, public places never to return despite huge sums of money paid to the abductors by their loved ones, you will begin to realize that there is no safe place for anyone except those that God shields and keeps in Nigeria. Many people no longer can visit their places of birth for fear nor do they engage in evening or any social outings any more. I will stop here so we can look at other issues.
Solution
Insecurity: – The major solution here is God’s protection and guidance. If there is a time for the children of God to have a very close relationship with the Holy Spirit that lives in their inside it is now. Three of the descriptive names of the Holy Spirit that keeps me going all day is that of a Helper, Guardian and the Counsellor. If the helper lives in us, it is about time we begin to ask for all the help we can get from Him instead of always trying to fix things on our own. If He is our guardian is it also not time for us to solicit guidance so we know where to go to, when to go and to whom to go to. If He is the counsellor, should we not ask for His counsel always so we are not misled or work without wisdom and precision. If we are patient to seek and cultivate a relationship with this Holy adorable Spirit of God, we will have a near perfect life. Our steps will be ordered and we will always be in line with what the will of God is for our lives. But no no, and no. man and his/her quest for freedom. We want things done our own ways, at our own time and with whoever we feel like and woetide who tries to stop us. Well like my pastor Emmanuel Kanos used to say, freedom has a price and that price is responsibility and I add accountability. You can have all the freedom you desire but if you are reckless, irresponsible you sure will account not just to yourself someday but to your family, friends and finally to God and even the devil. The time to stop rushing in and out of things and people and making terrible d costly mistakes is now.
One of the most useful books I have ever owned and have read many times over is “Let God Guide You Daily” by Wesley Duewel. This book is like my second bible. It has helped me so much that I bless the author any time I glean from the wisdom packed in it. I recommend it highly, please buy and read and by guided as I am lately. In his book he talked about the fact that God’s guidance is for every one of us. He talked aboutb expecting God to guide you daily in both serious and mundane every day issues. I have heard Bishop Dr Charles Oluwajoba talk about how the Holy spirit helps him choose what dress to wear. We must above all find what God’s great plan for our lives are. Why are we born into the families we are. We must be asking Him why with all the issues we encounter daily for Him alone has all the answers. No one should ever miss God’s will and plans for their lives for you will never ever will be fulfilled despite the amount of wealth you amass.
Mr Duewel continues by saying that we all can learn guidance. Yes it is learned. I for one is a student of this school. It is a tough school to go. Some times as a living sacrifice I can crawl off the altar and out of His guidance and counsel, but His love always brings me back and for that I am all so very grateful. As he said though the very secret of guidance is in listening. Listening is one of the best skills anyone who wants to go far in life must cultivate. God is a speaking God and so does everything and everyone around you. If you are not listening you will miss so much on vital lifesaving information that will guide you to safety and stop you many a heart aches. If you can tune off the chatters around you, you will hear the speakings of the Holy Spirit even as you sleep.
The time to get to studying the word is now. That is God in written words. All the counsel you will ever need is there. All the comfort, exhortations and wisdom are embedded in the pages of this great book. The Holy Spirit uses it to guide us. If you pick this book, you will never let it down. Please do.
What am I trying to say. It is that if God guides you through His Spirit your every step will be ordered. From the choice of who to marry to where to work, to what to eat and where to go daily and all other things we do in life. It means that if you are guided you will always be at the right place at the right time. You will never be a victim of any evil circumstance for like Apostle Paul Odola usually says, nothing just happens.
We cannot allow mindless evil people cut short our destiny by being added to the statistics of dying like mere men and in a terrible way for that matter, nor should our loved ones if we are standing in the gap for them. Several times God will reveal things about people, family members, a tribe, a nation and many others and I just pray cancelling the bad ones and praying for the manifestations of the good ones. If all you breathe, think and do has all of God in it He certainly will speak to you.
The concluding part of this series will proffer more solutions as how to navigate challenges, till then I leave you in God’s care and love.
