I will start this post with a question. Why will God let you go through arduous and gruesome times that should have killed you, but did not?. You ought to pause here and give serious thought to one or two near death experiences that God spared you from. Embedded in every experience especially the painful ones are deep lessons God wants everyone of us to learn, but we rarely do, or do you?. Instead we just whine and complain and so end up losing out on what would have helped steer us to the right path.
So as I end this topic on Hurts, Wounds and Scars we will be looking at how you can heal through lessons those very hurting experiences ought to teach you.
You must know that the place of healing is paramount to your wholeness. Till you see how all your hurt, wound and scars are used by God the master artist to sculpt you into a near perfect being, you will never appreciate the wisdom of God. But I pray you do so. You can kneel or prostrate fully and give Him the much deserved Praise, Glory and Honour due Him.
Watching the passion of Christ which I learnt was not close to what our dear Lord Jesus Christ went through, I never stop appreciating His deep love for me and others. Truly if the devil knew the outcome of the torture he put the Lord through, he never would have crucified Him. That is exactly how we should all view our sufferings, for they are meant to help mould us into better adults.
Just like I mentioned in part 1 of this post, the challenge here however is that most people just flow right back into their old pattern of life and living without enquiring from God the reason for the challenges they went through. After all you were told in 1st Cor 10:13 that
“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it “.

There you have it. It beats me why we all stay down so long, brooding over experiences that were meant to grow us than stunt us. With each one that God did not allow to swallow us, we must learn the lesson there, begin to apply it in our lives and bring others also to that experience, so that our lives will be growing in leaps and bounds.
Bringing others to the knowledge and better understanding we have of life is key to a community’s growth. This is because if you are the only person growing without carrying others along with you, you will be a lone tree in the forest and communing with others becomes increasingly difficult. As you change with each lesson learnt from each hurt, you exemplify the traits and character of Christ, and those in your sphere of influence will also follow suit. Apostle Paul writing to the Corinthians said:
“What a wonderful God we have—he is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the source of every mercy, and the one who so wonderfully comforts and strengthens us in our hardships and trials. And why does he do this? So that when others are troubled, needing our sympathy and encouragement, we can pass on to them this same help and comfort God has given us. You can be sure that the more we undergo sufferings for Christ, the more he will shower us with his comfort and encouragement”.

Right now I do not know the hurts, wounds and scars you carry, but God knows. He understands how overwhelming some of these challenges can be, for as part God and part human while on earth, He was of like passion the bible tells us so. So having a first hand knowledge of these powerful emotions, He knows what every one of us is going through and will certainly answer our cries for help one way or the other. I just love the commentary on ‘The Holy Spirit at Work’ at the beginning of 2nd Corinthians. It states that;
“The Spirit who gives life changes our way of living by opening our eyes to the living reality of what we read. Thus, we progressively experience and embody the will of God, and we ourselves become epistles of Christ, known and read by all men”.
2nd Cor. 3:2
It continued, and this is the juicy part, I just love the things of God, so assuring and rewarding when adhered to.
“When we submit ourselves to the work of the spirit, we experience a miracle. We find that ‘where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty”.
2nd Cor. 3:17
There is liberty to behold the unveiled glory of the Lord and to be changed more and more into the likeness of what we behold. The Holy Spirit gives us freedom to see and freedom to be what God wants us to be. 2nd Cor 3:16-18
Man’s worst challenge is impatience. Many times we get into things and situations that hurt, traumatize and scar us because of lack of patience. This is a huge challenge because we all never really learn the lesson embedded in these hurtful experiences, but go on making fresh mistakes all over again.
We all must stop, take a long pause and wait for God’s time for all that we rush to accomplish in life.
Reading David Roper’s contribution in “Our daily Bread of October 20th, 2014 “, I was very blessed by the following.
“The Bible Records God’s ‘delays’ many of which seem at the time to be inexplicable from our point of view. Yet every delay flows from the depths of His wisdom and love. If nothing else, delay, if we accept it, can produce the quieter virtues of humility, patience, endurance and persistence – qualities that are often the last to be learned “.
So like the author of this piece I ask
“Are you in distress? Does the Lord seem distant and detached?” I do experientially affirm with the writer “He is not indifferent to your plight, nor is He unmoved by your pleas. He is waiting while His purpose is achieved. Then at the right moment, He will intercede, God is never in a hurry, but He is always on time”
I will end with what Susan Taylor said in the second paragraph, of her book “Lessons in Living” page 64.
“The path to realizing our dream is never smooth. Invariably we encounter bends, turns, detours and roadblocks. Sometimes our frustrations make us want to give up the journey but frustration signal the need to pause for introspection and redirection. Frustration tell us that our thoughts and actions are not yet in harmony with our desires.
We will always feel unfulfilled, fragmented and frustrated unless we commit ourselves to continuous growth and change. This is part of the divine plan. Until we bring into balance our activities and our capabilities, we will feel the frustration of working against life.
Thank God. The frustration we feel from not realizing our potential isn’t a punishment, but a blessing, a self-correcting mechanism. He doesn’t disregard your cry for help. He hears. He cares. And He is ready and willing to bring healing to your heart today.
We don’t have to live our lives licking our wounds when God’s word is chock-full of power-packed passages that offer the cure for whatever is ailing us. infact, the same armor and ammunition that makes us battle – ready is the same biblical balm that heals our wounds”.
