How to Never Allow Desperation / Despair Rob You Again [Part 3]

When we all realize that this life is not turn by turn, but time by time in God, we will simply rest in His loving care and wait our time in Him. God has a schedule for every one of us, a part and a time, that we must play and the time to play it. The course of our lives have been plotted above and engrained in the supreme purposes of God. The choices we make, however are very relevant to our accomplishing these purposes. Every daily decision we make, either make or mare our purpose in God. The most challenging question every one of us should be asking then is; how do we know the part to follow so we do not miss the purposes of God for our lives?.

These were discussed in part 1

1. Refuse to Succumb to the Deceptive lies that you are not in control, you sure are

2. Analyze that Desperate Situation

3. Commit it to God in Prayers.

For details of part one kindly follow this link Part 1

And these were dealt with in part two;

4. Guard your Mind/Heart

5. Fill your Mind with God’s Word, Speak and Meditate on them all Day Long

6. Give your life to the Lord; to do this please click on this link. Give your life to the Lord

For part 2 details, follow this link. Part 2

While part 3 will deal with the following: –

7. Rest in His Love and Promises

8. Praise and Worship

9. Be Grateful and Thankful.

Looking back in time, I have come to realize that God’s hand has been all over my life. Events pleasing and displeasing have all been used by Him to make me what I am today and still counting. But if I know then what I know now I am sure I would have spared my life loads of detours, mistakes and pains.

I simply love how this writer put this

“Though clouds surround the present and I do not know what the future may hold, I have the assurance that the Shepherd will show me the way. My task is to follow Him in love and obedience, and trust each step in Him”.

So folks let us rest in His love and wait our time in Him.

7. Rest in His Love and Promises

Most of the reason we worry too much, is lack of trust in God. I love what Randy Kilgore on this matter said,

“questioning and doubting, both understandable human responses, are opportunities to remind, reassure and comfort those who are shaken by uncertainty”.

Randy Kilgore

If God said it folks, He sure will do it, so let us have faith in Him. I love this definition of faith.

“Faith is a forward focus on God, His Word and His promises. This kind of faith constantly looks back and draws strength from God’s past and continued Grace, Favour and Love”.

We must know that

“God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?”

Num 23:19 [NLT].

God is God and His Word is Truth. Jesus is the Word of God and He has told us to cast our burden and Cares at His feet.

“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you”

1st Pet 5:7 [NLT].

The problem with most of us is that we cast the care at His feet in prayers, yet drag the load about physically for lack of faith.

The time to pray asking God to increase your faith is now. The time to start trusting God and believing in His finished work and word is equally now. If you fix your eyes more on God than on man you will see that most of what man cannot do for you, gets done divinely by God himself. You just have to start trusting God.

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith” who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God”.

Hebrews 12:2

You must keep looking unto God not man. Allow Him to choose the source and time of your help. let Him take care of the how, when and where. All you do is simply trust like a baby. The reward is amazing folks. You should try it.

What drives despair in most people’s lives is betrayed trust, and crashed hopes from human beings especially those we expect so much from. People you have helped and expect them to reciprocate often times fail and that can be disheartening. But we are to look to God and rest in His all sufficiency and love. He alone directs help to you and most times from most unlikely places and people.

Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

Psalm 62:1-2 [NIV] Also read Psalm 62:5-8

When you are at rest you are calm and more thankful, knowing that what He did before He can do again. When you look at examples of all the people in the Bible like Hannah, Joseph, Hezekiah, Lazarus, Jabez, Sarah and many others you know that there is nothing He cannot do.

“ Moses and Aaron were among his priests,
 Samuel was among those who called on his name;
 they called on the Lord and he answered them”.

Psalm 99: 6-7

Like Joyce Myers said

“We need to realize that worrying is useless! It’s like sitting in a rocking chair, rocking all day, wearing yourself out and getting nowhere. Trusting God means we give up worrying, reasoning, and anxiety and we enter into His rest with simple childlike faith—we live by grace through faith!”

Joyce Myers

I totally agree with this woman of God. There is absolutely nothing to be gained by worrying and despairing for it can also hurt your health not just physically but mentally, spiritually, socially and otherwise.

Just know now that though

“Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.

Ps 30:5 [NLT]

This short poem by D. DeHaan, should comfort you.

When my poor soul in doubt is cast

And darkness hides the savior’s face,

His love and truth still hold me fast

For He will keep me by His grace

D. DeHaan

8. Praise and Worship God

These two are the most powerful and potent weapons against desperation and despair. Since I cultivated this attitude of praising and worshiping God, my life has never been the same. Once I begin, my mood changes and my spirit lifts. To really feel on top of any situation, I look for worship and praise songs done by good gospel artists that address such situations and dance to. Before I know it, I feel lifted, strengthened and hope full. You should try it, it works like magic. Praise and worship breaks yokes and bondages and frees our mind from the enemy’s torment’s.

When you worship you shift your gaze off yourself, your problems and environment and focus it on God. When you praise and worship, you are lifted/transported from where and what your present circumstances are into His presence where joy, peace and comforting love flows deep into your soul and soothes your frayed nerves and mind. It’s usually difficult to do when you are so down, but when you finally begin, within minutes, you suddenly feel His great love enveloping you, and the Holy Spirit speaking to your spirit telling you it will be alright.

Then those warm cleansing tears begins to flow freely down your cheek washing away every trace of anguish and sorrows. A certain calm, peace and overwhelming joy overshadows you and you feel secure in God’s divine mercy, love and peace. You just know then beyond measure that all is well. What a might loving and merciful God we serve. If you do not know this God, the time is right now. This is what Psalm 107:21-22 will have us/you do:

“Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
  and his wonderful deeds for mankind.
  Let them sacrifice thank offerings
  and tell of his works with songs of joy”.

Psalm 107:21-22

You simply cannot experience God’s love and not share it with someone else. When you are thankful and grateful, it loosens your tongue and you proclaim God’s goodness to all around you. .

King David understood the power of praise and worship and they sustained him through all the difficult situation of his life. He learnt to trust God for His protection and provision through them. And like Branon wrote I also declare and so should you.

“Lord, shape my life as only you can,

Guiding each day by your loving plan;

Take what You need and give what You will;

My life is Yours to use and to fill”

Branon

And like Joe Stowell said I reiterate Lord;

“You know the struggles that we face, Lord

You know just what we need to endure them,

Give us the confidence to trust you because of

Your goodness and to walk by faith. Amen”

Joe Stowell
if we can place a stone for every good thing God did for us, our living space will be filled to the brim and spilling over

9. Be Grateful and Thankful.

You ought to and must be grateful to God for His love. This gratefulness includes His Love as well as His discipline. The moment you realize that God’s discipline leads to patience, the kind that build character, you will be more grateful as He leads you to His will daily.

The song by Johnson Oatman that says to ‘count your blessing and name them one by one, and that it will surprise you to see what God has done’ is so true. Follow this link for the whole song https://library.timelesstruths.org/music/Count_Your_Blessings/. Looking at the lovely well polished stones in the image above, and the caption under it, one begins to appreciate Israelis’ patriarchs like Isaac, Joseph, Moses and others who always built memorials at places where God had been so good to them. if we all learn to do that, our hearts will be full of thanks giving to God and we can trust Him implicitly, knowing that if He did all that He did in the past, He is so able to do so much more in the future.

Here are some of the benefits of thankfulness and gratitude as researched and written by Skip Prichard.

The bible seals it with this:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”.

Philippians 4:6-7[NLT]

Then wait for God to answer. This is the place where most of us loose it. Impatience has killed many destinies. The inability to discern God’s timing has robbed millions of their place and part in God. The next post which is the last part of this series will be on how to wait on God. Once you have mastered the art of waiting on God, despair and desperation will be under your feet.

Count your blessings name them one by one

If you make it a point of duty to catalogue all that God has done, despair and desperation will never knock on your door.
