Warfare, Wounds, Scars and Healing [Part 1]

This world we live in is a battle ground where constant warfare rages for our souls, minds and bodies. In this raging battle we all sustain injuries leaving us with wounds and scars that need to be treated and healed by God, or we will be like damaged goods, looking ugly and unwanted by all.

We must know that our lives here on earth is a painful mixture of good and bad, reflected in our marriages, friendships, families, work places, churches and other associations we find ourselves in. It is challenging life but I am glad, that as a Christian, I have been provided with everything I need in Christ Jesus to live a victorious life. One of such incredible provisions is that of Prayers.

Lately, I have been on a warfare journey, doing spiritual battle to settle the enemy’s contentions in my life and family, and take back the victory Christ purchased for us on the cross. Few days back, after my midnight prayer that lasted two hours plus, I slept off but woke remembering this weird dream of seeing cuts and wounds all over my body.

I was however stumped as to where the wounds would have come from. I intensified my prayers believing that the cuts and wounds are from witchcraft attacks. But as I prayed, I started having dreams of animals [a rat and a cat] attacking me. I rejoiced because I know my prayers were doing damages in their covens for them to be re-launch their attacks.

And so I increased my prayers and enlisted the help of other intercessors. We all declared a battle on the enemy and his cohorts.  I decided it was time to end all the not too pleasant accounts of my life and those of my family members. It was going to be a warfare of all warfare’s. It was time to end all the evil and wicked manipulations with their attendant setbacks in my life and family. As the atmosphere of my life began to change, I increased the tempo of my prayers knowing

“…. the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much”.

James 5: 16 [NIV]

Not just that, but knowing that Jesus conquered the devil and has given me victory on all sides. It now beholds me to take authority over the devil and all his evil workings against me and my family and ascertain my rights as His child, for that is what prayers ought to do for the chosen. As I prevailed in prayers, my spirit began to bear witness with the word of God that no weapon formed against me is allowed to prosper.

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD”.

Isaiah 54:17 [KJV]

I became more emboldened and strengthened because of the fact that I am more than a conqueror through Christ who loves me [Rom 8:37] and strengthens me.

A great joy and peace came over me and I began to rejoice with these reassuring words of God, knowing and realizing that my prayers have caused a significant damage in the camp of the enemy. And so I became more emboldened and fervent, targeting and hitting my arrows at the enemies’ arsenals and doing incredible damage still. No wander the bible tells us to pray without seizing.

Yes ooo, we are to keep watching and praying, least the devil takes us unawares. After every session of prayers, I just know that the war is real for my body tells me so as these battles were fierce and intense.

It portended then that some of the wounds on my body in the dream must have been inflicted on me spiritually as I engaged the forces of darkness against setbacks in my life and my family members, or so I thought. As I battled, I kept thinking about the wounds in my body as revealed to me in the dream. After praying and cancelling the dreams I went about the day doing my work.

But then the Holy Spirit began to explain the cause of the wound all over my body. He made me understand that the wounds where not only from spiritual warfare, but from traumatic experiences I have gone through and still going through now. The Holy Spirit took me on a journey of these painful experiences.

Some of them which I thought I have dealt with and moved on, were however there and still hurting any time I remembered them no matter how hard I tried to forgive and forget those that inflicted them on me.  I knew right there and then that the Holy Spirit’s help needed to be enlisted for in-depth healing for my soul, spirit and body so I can be free from these wounds. I have been praying since then and felt that I need to share this issue with many so they can start the healing process with me

The world we live in is not as simple as it seems. There are fierce battles going on in the realm of the spirit for the souls of many of us, more so for those who have great destiny to fulfill in the kingdom of our dear Lord Jesus Christ. So as the war for our soul’s rages, many of us sustain wounds that though hidden inside us, yet they reflect in all the areas of our lives.

We might try to cover some of these wounds yet they are easily discerned and noticed by sensitive people around us. It could be in the way we respond to things, or the way we dress, walk, eat, sleep, talk, relate or work with others. These wounds are visible in our entire demeanor, from thoughts to posture and actions. No matter how the wounded try to hide these wounds and scars that life has dealt and still deals them, they somehow and in some ways seep out of where they are hiding, despite many attempts at concealing them.

These unhealed wounds are like the sweat that oozes out after intense manual labour. Not a pleasant smell you must say, it just repels people from you. You are like a sour thump that no one wants to touch or be near. So isolated with all that ought to help you, as they all run from you, even friends and family alike, you are now left so alone to deal with your shit. [Please forgive my use of the word shit here. Sometimes some words not too palatable are the only words that can truly convey the strength of what one has to say].

As the Holy Spirit began showing me the meaning of the wounds all over my body in the dream. It began to make a lot of sense. The above sweat experience must have been what I was subjected to also but never knew. So I walked about with fresh wounds and old scars and people responded to me based on the level of their tolerance to them.

Sometimes I felt so bad by the response of people that I thought should be nice and kind. Those I was nice and kind to, were the ones that made me feel deeply hurt by their poor treatment and sometimes abject rejection. The more I experienced these hurts and rejections, the more my wounds opened up, hurting like never before.

Then the old scars I bore got uglier driving more people away. It got so bad that I had to withdraw from all and started seeking comfort alone from God and my daughter. The church, movies and music were also my comforter. The Church experience is a book on it’s on, so I will end this post here and we can take it from here in the part two of this series.

Do not miss the part 2 and 3 of this series. You can share with another hurting person you know, and leave a comment. Thank you.
