WARFARE, WOUNDS, SCARS AND HEALING [PART 2]

Life on planet Earth is a battle. The strong in battle stand a better chance of winning. This battle, however is not a physical but a spiritual one. For the chosen and called to manifest God on earth, their battles are varied and more intense. But my comort is that God Himself told us not to fear for He is with us all the way, fighting with us to win and bring glory to His name. In part 1, I was talking about the challenges I encountered in the church as I went through major challenges in my life.

The church experience is entirely a different ball game. It is a book on its own as most of my expectations were dashed by some not too pleasant experiences I had. Most of the wounded run to the church for succor and comfort but then the rejection and judgement starts afresh. You are coming to your own, the Christian community, the body of Christ for solace and acceptance.

But the problem is that the ‘body’ is really not a wholesome ‘body’ yet, but fragmented and so out of joint and not totally wired to heal the broken hearted. Once again it hits you but this time like a tidal wave that has the capacity to wash you off the ocean shores, sapping away what is left of the inner strength stored up in your overtly wounded soul and body.

You are now like a snail whose antenna for guidance is stepped on and wounded so badly you hardly could find your way around with the intense pain from the wound you just sustained. So wounded, hurting and confused you tend to retract more, but your spirit longs for worship and the kind you can only offer in the gathering of the brethren. . I just love what Rick Warren said about expecting too much form any church.

So back to church you go again determined not to be daunted by the goings on. With your mind and face fixed on Christ you take your place amongst your brethren and begin to serve, worship and contribute your quota to the continued establishment of the kingdom of God.

Good decision people, very good one. So back to church I go again, enjoying the cooperate anointing. Praise and worship really assuages and soothes my frayed nerves. Strong ministrations from the word of God by His servants also comforted me. I will sing and dance my heart out in praise, while worship causing tears of joy to flow from God’s love to my soul, washing away all the sorrows gnawing at my heart and threatening to swallow me up.

I remember worshiping and sobbing so hard out of God’s continued love, mercy, grace, protection and provision for me, that a lady behind me, reaches out and holds my shoulder in comfort to whatever it is I was sobbing about or going through.

That is church people of God, that is what church should be a community of people committed to each other’s wellbeing. It is that we are touched by the pains of others, and compassionately reach out to each other drawing strength and comfort from one another. And not to stand alone, aloof to other people’s challenges and judging, for so many people know how to pull down than to lift up.

Reading Rick Joyner’s “The Quest” I began to understand what that book was saying and the lesson therein. So much we ought to be and to do for the fallen than for those already built up and standing. But then the bible says to be mindful of your standing least you who think that you have it all together, falls.

Do forgive my digression. Back to my musing. In my isolation, music and movies comforted me also. Music will take me to places I have been that were pleasurable. Some got me reminiscing deeply. Some drowned my sorrows, lifted my spirit and made me feel like, life is good after all, despite all the challenges about me. Some made me feel sad too, but all pleasing me in different kind of ways.

Movies became an incredible platform for me to feel and share with other lives. Unreal as it seemed, I began to identify and make friends with some characters in the movies that imparted me. I looked forward to coming home to be with friends I made in movies. People that I do not know became people who could speak into my life because of the ways they responded to different situations I was dealing with.

Yes physical death, because there are traumas that people die from literally, and spiritually because we can be bitter and resent God for not answering us as early as we hoped. Many get bitter and turn their back on God and seek help from any means and so get disconnected from God. This is because as we all pray the die die prayers, expecting our human enemies to die physically, rather they stay alive doing better than ever.

People, at this stage get so angry, bitter and the spirit of un-forgiveness take over preventing prayers from being answered. Error people. The bible says to wrestle against principalities and powers, and spiritual wickedness in the realm of the spirit and not human beings.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesian 6:12

God alone judges and when He arises to judge our enemies He will. I just love the Holy Spirit for as soon as my spirit shifts from fighting principalities and powers and starts hitting at human spirits, he refocuses my attention and that way my prayers become effective targeting the core and foundation of my challenges. We all should do same too.

We must work in love, praying for even our worst enemies peradventure their hearts will be transformed by the Holy Spirit and we save souls. After all the bible says that when the ways of a man pleases God He makes His enemies to be at peace with him/her.  

“When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him”.

Proverbs. 16:7

 Patience is key in God’s kingdom. We must wait our God’s appointed time or we become accidents waiting to happen. As for me, I have dug in and waiting my time and I pray same for you reading this post.

I have faced so many challenges in all aspects of life. Relationally, financially, spiritually, socially, name it, I have been dealt some terrible blows but through each one, God has shown varied aspect of His nature with His love and care trumping all. I just love Andrae Crouch song “Through it all”. Folks, I make bold to say here that we serve a super mighty and merciful God.

Till you have experienced the intensity and constancy of God’s love, people’s testimonies will seem like fable tales in the moon light. I pray you experience His love too. I also pray for patience and staying power as we all go through any challenge life throws at us.
